Wgc Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Xenia, Ohio.
The course first opened for play 1926 and operated as a 9-hole Country Club until 1941, it was purchased and operated from 1942 through 1967 by the Ogilvie family. The current owners, the Goecke family, purchased the course in 1968 and changed the operation to a public golf course renaming it Xenia Golf Club.
The course was remodeled and expanded to 18 holes in 1982 and renamed WGC Golf Course. Jack Kidwell and Michael Hurdzan designed the back nine. WGC stands for three generations of the Goecke family. Will Goecke (Founder), Garay Goecke (Director of Golf), and Christopher Goecke, (COO of WGC).
The back nine is hilly and has narrower and more wooded fairways than the front nine. The front nine has water coming into play on two holes. The front nine holes are also more level and open.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,551 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,395 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 14, a par-5 that plays to 544 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 138 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 10, a 395-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 5, a 200 yard par-3.
